In the present phase of Nepali literature, Gopal Parajuli has become a synonym of experimental writing. There is no doubt that he is an experimentalist, committed to ushering novelty in Nepali literature. In Nepali literature as well in the world literature, experimentation doesn’t stand for any specific theory, but it is a special inclination toward remaining sensitive and adaptive to novelty. If any sort of novelty is ushered in any aspect of a work—its diction, style or structure—the work becomes experimental. Since almost all works of Gopal Parajuli incorporate a new approach, newer experiments always have their impact on them.

Poet Parajuli has seen the reality of the present time quite clearly, and through the present work, he shows it to others too. In his work titled Shabda Shatabdi (The Lost Century), Parajuli has appeared as a poet with intense temporal awareness. This work that especially foregrounds the emotional reality of the post-1989 period is a rare achievement of Nepali epical tradition.
