Golardhaka Dui Chheu (The Two Extremes) is a collection of six one-act plays. In the tradition of Nepali plays, this has set new dramaturgical standards. The newness it proposes in the plays' structure, performance and theatrical equipments, albeit without writing, exposes the playwright's refinement of vision in one hand, and on the other, the rule about the unity of subject has been dismantled. None of the plays collected here has a single issue. It has no plot, complication or denouement. The new mode of dialogues that is apparently unconnected presents an altogether new style in the tradition of Nepali plays that more or less follows the pattern of question upon question among the co-actors. For this reason, there is neither organization nor disintegration of the subject matter. Instead, there is subservience of the same. It is for the readers to decide if that is good or place.
The anthology has, in a way, generalized an issue that is otherwise quite personal, and has thus made it global. With an altogether new issue, organization and style, this anthology of one-act plays is worth reading and worth collecting, especially for that intellectual community, which is capable of establishing, analyzing and criticizing its examples and arguments.
